NIAID Strategic Plan for Biodefense Research - Issued September 2007 - NIH Knock-out Mouse Program (KOMP) grant for mouse mutagenesis awarded to the UC Davis Mouse Biology Program - Awarded July 2007
- Establishment of the UC Davis -Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory Center for Point-of-Care Technologies (POCT). This Center, one of four funded by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging & Bioengineering, develops prototype instruments that simultaneously detect five bacterial and fungal pathogens. Evaluations are also conducted on other exploratory diagnostic technologies intended to prepare the nation for future disasters. http://somapp.ucdavis.edu/Pathology/Poctctr/index.html - Awarded September 2007
- Center for Genomic Pathology (GCP). The missions of the CGP are to collect, integrate and disseminate knowledge about Genomic Pathology and to support educational activities of the Academy of Genomic Pathology (AGP). CGP will provide training and expertise in comparative pathology with an emphasis on the pathobiology of the genetically manipulated laboratory mouse as applied to human disease. - Initiated March 2008

The Mutant Mouse Pathology Lab has acquired a new Aperio XT Whole Slide Scanner (July 2008). The Scanner is capable of scanning 1x3 pathology slides at a resolution of 50,000 dots per inch at 20X with a numeric aperture of 0.75. In addition to simply scanning slides the Lab will also be able to digitally analyze the produced images utilizing the latest Aperio image analysis software. - The Animal Biosafety Level 3 (ABSL-3) facility at the California National Primate Research Center has been certified for studies of BSL-3 infectious pathogens in non-human primates (December 2008). This space consists of 4 rooms housing up to 64 macaques with full necropsy capabilities.
